What is Dietetics?

Dietetics is the science of food and nutrition applied to health and medical care.

At PhysioCentral, dietetic care goes beyond just “what to eat”. We help you understand your body, your routine, and your goals – then map out practical steps you can use straight away.

How our Dietitian can help

  • Settle symptoms: structured strategies for gut discomfort, reflux, bloating, and irregular habits
  • Support women’s health: PCOS, endometriosis, fertility, pregnancy & postpartum, peri-menopause
  • Manage chronic conditions: Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, fatty liver, metabolic syndrome, heart disease
  • Build confident habits: realistic meal structure, shopping swaps, eating-out plans, travel tips, and flare-management playbooks (e.g., IBS)
  • Healthy weight loss & Medicated Weight Management: steady, sustainable changes that improve energy, gut comfort and long-term health – so the scales aren’t the only measure of progress.
On Ozempic/Wegovy/Mounjaro? Veronika will fine-tune your plan to support results, ease side effects and maintain good nutrition.

What to Expect from your appointments

  • Initial consultation: your goals, history, current diet, labs (if relevant), routine and preferences → a tailored plan you can start immediately
  • Follow-ups: problem-solve barriers, track progress markers (symptoms, energy, sleep, routine), and fine-tune your plan so changes stick
  • Between sessions: simple tools and step-by-step guides to keep momentum going

FAQs

Do I need a referral?
No. Referrals are welcome but not required, unless you’re seeking care under Medicare.

Can I use Medicare?
If you have a Chronic Condition Management Plan (GP-CCMP) from your GP, Medicare rebates apply for eligible sessions.

Is Telehealth available?
Yes. Choose that option when you book online or phone, and ask our team when booking. We’ll help you choose in-person or Telehealth based on your needs.

Do you work with the rest of the PhysioCentral team?
Yes. Veronika often works alongside our physiotherapists, massage therapists, and psychologists so that your care plan fits with your rehab, pain management or mental health support.

What should I bring?
Any recent blood tests, diagnosis letters, medication list, and a typical 1–3-day food/meds/symptom snapshot (if easy).

Can you help with weight loss if I’ve “tried everything”?
Yes. We’ll skip strict rules and focus on doable routines – hunger management, meal structure, protein/fibre targets and small changes that actually stick.

Do you work with weight-loss medication or surgery?
Veronika can coordinate with your GP/Specialist if medication or surgery is part of your plan. Dietetic care helps you eat well, protect muscle, and manage symptoms before and after treatment.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals and condition. Most people benefit from an initial session and a few follow-ups to cement change.
