Bulk billed dietitian appointments with Veronika Pudikova (APD) – Miranda & Sutherland Shire

If you’re living with a long-term health condition, food can feel confusing.

You might be trying to manage Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, weight changes, gut issues, or a mix of all of the above – while juggling real life, work, family and everything else.

The good news? With the right support, small, realistic nutrition changes can make a big difference to your numbers, your symptoms and how you feel day-to-day.

At PhysioCentral in Miranda, we’re now offering bulk billed dietitian appointments with Accredited Practising Dietitian, Veronika Pudikova, for eligible GP-Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) referrals.

That means, if you meet Medicare’s criteria and your GP refers you under a care plan, you may be able to see our dietitian with no out-of-pocket cost for your consult (Medicare is billed directly).

Meet Veronika – our Accredited Practising Dietitian

Veronika Pudikova (APD) is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who blends empathy with evidence-based nutrition care. She’s skilled at taking complex nutrition science and turning it into clear, practical steps you can actually follow in your own kitchen and routine.

Her focus is helping you:

  • Understand what to eat for your condition (without cutting everything out)
  • Build simple, sustainable habits rather than “all or nothing” diets
  • Reduce symptoms and flare-ups
  • Support your lab results and long-term health
  • Feel more in control and confident with food again

Who can a bulk billed dietitian appointment help?

Bulk billed dietitian sessions with Veronika are designed for people with chronic or longer-term health conditions who have been referred by their GP under a Chronic Condition Management Plan.

Common reasons people see Veronika include:

1. Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes & insulin resistance

  • Understanding what and when to eat to support your blood sugar
  • Balancing carbohydrates with protein, fibre and healthy fats

Planning meals and snacks around work, shifts and family

Fine-tuning your diet if you’re taking metformin, insulin or GLP-1 medications

2. High cholesterol, blood pressure & heart health

  • Heart-healthy meal ideas that still feel enjoyable and satisfying
  • Using fibre, wholegrains, healthy fats and plant foods to support your numbers
  • Reducing salt and ultra-processed foods without feeling like you’re ‘on a diet’

3. Weight management & GLP-1 medications (Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro® etc.)

If you’re using, or considering, GLP-1 medications, food still matters. A lot.

Veronika can help you:

  • Keep muscle, strength and energy while losing weight
  • Reduce nausea, reflux, constipation or diarrhoea related to medication
  • Build a day of eating that feels light enough for your appetite, but still nourishing
  • Create an eating pattern you can stick with long term, not just while on the script

4. PCOS, fatty liver & metabolic health

  • Supporting hormone balance, insulin resistance and liver health with food
  • Practical guidance on regular meals, protein and fibre
  • Working on slow, sustainable weight changes if that’s part of your goal

5. IBS, bloating and other gut issues

  • Helping you figure out which foods are triggers (without cutting out everything)
  • Step-by-step low-FODMAP style approaches where appropriate
  • Re-introducing foods so your diet is as broad and enjoyable as possible
  • Supporting gut health with fibre, fluids and food timing

What happens in a bulk billed dietitian appointment?

A bulk billed consult with Veronika is still a full dietitian appointment – the bulk billing simply changes how the appointment is paid for (through Medicare, via your GP care plan).

Here’s what to expect:

1. Getting to know you

Veronika will start by getting a clear picture of your:

  • Health conditions and any recent blood tests or scans
  • Medications (including diabetes medication or GLP-1 injections)
  • Typical daily eating pattern and appetite
  • Symptoms – e.g. blood sugar swings, bloating, reflux, fatigue, joint pain
  • Your priorities and goals

There’s no judgement. The aim is to understand what life actually looks like for you right now.

2. Making sense of the ‘why’ behind food changes

Next, she’ll explain the ‘why’ in simple language:

  • How food can support your specific condition(s)
  • Which changes give you the biggest health benefit
  • Where we can keep the foods you enjoy and work around them

This part is about clearing up confusion and helping you feel confident instead of overwhelmed.

3. A realistic plan you can live with

Together, you’ll map out a plan that fits your life, not someone else’s:

  • Meal and snack ideas that suit your routine, culture and budget
  • Small, achievable changes to try first (no 20-point to-do list)
  • Strategies for eating out, family meals and busy days
  • What to do when symptoms flare or appetite changes

You’ll leave with clear, written guidance – not just a chat you’ll forget on the way home.

4. Follow-up and tweaks

Chronic conditions are long-term, so support often works best over several visits. Follow-up appointments give you the chance to:

  • Celebrate what’s working
  • Troubleshoot what isn’t
  • Adjust your plan as medications, life or goals change

Who is eligible for bulk billed dietitian visits?

Bulk billing is available for eligible patients referred under a GP-CCMP.

In general, you may be eligible if:

  • You have one or more chronic health conditions (e.g. diabetes, heart disease risk, obesity, arthritis, chronic pain, respiratory disease, mental health conditions, etc.), and
  • Your GP has created a Chronic Condition Management Plan, and
  • Your GP has specifically referred you to a dietitian under that plan.

Your GP will decide if you meet Medicare’s criteria and how many sessions are allocated, up to a maximum of 5. If you’re not sure, just ask at your next GP visit – they’ll be able to let you know what you’re eligible for.
